# Attribution and Asset Policy

This document records the provenance, licence basis, and publication policy for every category of
asset used or withheld on this site. It applies to all content in `assets/inbox/` and all external
content referenced from published HTML pages.

## SID Files

All SID files are sourced from the **High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC) Release 84**.
HVSC base URL: <https://hvsc.c64.org/C64Music/>

Licence basis for all SID files: **HVSC fan-distribution norms; non-commercial fan site.**

> Note: Three games (`Hawkeye`, `Retrograde`, `Quedex`) have incorrect HVSC paths in their
> `sid_metadata.json` files. The corrected paths are used below and in all published content.

## Screenshots

All screenshots are emulator captures of Commodore 64 software. No official publisher permission
has been sought. Publication is on the basis of fair use for fan commentary and preservation on a
non-commercial site.

No official permission has been sought from any rights holder for use of these screenshots.

## Withheld Assets

The following asset types are present in `assets/inbox/` but are **not referenced from any
published HTML page** (no `<img>`, `<a href>`, or `<object>` tag points to them):

- **Box art** — files named `box-front.jpg` across game directories
- **Inlay scans** — files named `inlay-front.jpg` and `inlay-back.jpg` across game directories
- **Cassette scans** — files named `cassette.jpg` across game directories
- **Manual PDFs** — any PDF files in `assets/inbox/`

**Reason:** The current rights holder for Thalamus Ltd's intellectual property has not been
confirmed. Commercial artwork (box art, inlay scans, cassette art, manuals) carries a higher IP
risk profile than emulator screenshots or HVSC-distributed SID files. Withholding this material
is a conservative measure pending confirmation of the rights holder and their policy on fan sites.

## Unresolved IP Notice

The current rights holder for **Thalamus Ltd** intellectual property has not been confirmed.
Thalamus Ltd ceased operations in 1993. A company named **Thalamus Digital Publishing** has
appeared in connection with retro re-releases, but it is not confirmed to hold IP rights over the
original Thalamus Ltd catalogue.

Contacting Thalamus Digital Publishing to clarify IP ownership and seek permission for fan site
use of their assets is noted as a future action. Until that confirmation is received, this site
withholds all commercial artwork as documented in the Withheld Assets section above.

This site is non-commercial and intended solely for fan appreciation and historical preservation.
